or ayurvedic medicines were documented centuries ago in the sacred texts called
Vedas. Since then, it has evolved over the years. It is integrated with other
traditional as well as modern medical practices to attain progress. Even today,

balancing the three doshas and harmonizing the mind, body, and soul resulting
in comprehensive healing of an individual.
Here are some of
the ayurvedic remedies one can use in daily life to make it healthier:
- For weight loss:
- As per Ayurveda, improper digestion is the most common reason for the accumulation of fat in the body. To treat the same, consume Triphala powder twice a day on empty stomach for at least a month. Regular consumption of Triphala will help in detoxification of the body and cleanse the blood vessels, liver, and stomach. In the Indian kitchen, it is used as a bowel tonic that helps in digestion, supports the absorption of vitamins and minerals in the body required for balanced enrichment.
- Excess fat in the body increases the level of cholesterol, elevates heart blocks, accumulates fatty acids in the body, etc. To save yourself, lose weight with the help of ginger, garlic, and lemon. Prepare a paste of 4 garlic cloves and ginger and add lemon juice to it. Mix this solution with 4 glasses of water and boil it until the water is reduced to half. Drink this juice regularly to get the best results.

- For insomnia:
- Stress and anxiety have made humans a common sufferer of insomnia. If you are one of them, start devouring Shankhpushpi regularly. It contains flavonoids, glycosides, and alkaloids that soothe the nervous system. It acts as a tranquilizer for stress, anxiety, and mental fatigue and eventually, induces sleep.
- Another herb useful for inducing good quality sleep is, Jatamansi. In Ayurveda, this herb is known as a natural brain tonic and memory enhancer. It calms and relaxes the hyperactive brain cells while rejuvenating and nourishing the nervous system.
- For skin infection:
- Inequality of bacteria due to antibiotics, stress, unhealthy eating habits, hormonal imbalance, etc. causes fungal infections. To avoid such infections, apply unsweetened yogurt on the affected area for 30 minutes and wash it with cold water. Yogurt has probiotics which produces lactic acid capable of killing the infection. Practice it twice a day until the infection is cured.
- To heal wounds or skin infection, honey and onion can also be your savior. All you have to do is, mix one teaspoon honey and onion juice each, in a bowl and apply the mixture on the affected area. Let it stay on the skin for at least 30 minutes and then, wash it off. Both honey and onion are known for their anti-microbial properties in nature. They kill the infection and allow healing.
- For stress and anxiety:
- Hair loss, weight gain, low immunity, lack of concentration anything can cause stress which is a sign of poor brain health. To enhance the same, consume Brahmi religiously. This ayurvedic medicine is known to treat cognitive functions as well as symptoms of stress and anxiety. It improves impulse transmission of nerve cells in the brain, increases serotonin level in the body which relaxes the brain and reduces anxiety. It is also known to improve memory and concentration.
- Prolonged stress leads to depression. As per Ayurveda, consuming Ashwagandha is the best remedy to cure prolonged stress. It acts an anti-depressant and protects and calms the nervous system by reducing stress and anxiety.
